Paul Korpi Appointed Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
TORONTO, ONTARIO - June 22, 2007 - Centerra Gold Inc. (TSX:CG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul A. Korpi as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Centerra Gold Inc. Paul's appointment is effective immediately replacing George R. Burns, who is leaving the Company to pursue another opportunity.
Mr. Korpi has over 30 years experience in the mineral sector in exploration, engineering, development and operations. Paul joined Centerra in 2004 as Vice President Operations at Boroo Gold Company (BGC) in Mongolia and since early 2005; he has been President of BGC. Under Paul's leadership, the Boroo gold mine has achieved an excellent safety and operating record. Prior to joining Centerra, Mr. Korpi worked with Cleveland Cliffs, Inc., SNC-Lavalin and Newmont Mining Corporation, where he served in various capacities including General Manager at several of Newmont's gold properties in Nevada, as well as Director of Development and General Manager for Newmont and Sumitomo's Batu Hijau Project in Indonesia. Mr. Korpi has a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Michigan Technological University.
