I am convinced gold will smash through the $1,000 per ounce barrier in
2008.
How do we as investors best profit from this? I am focusing on two
criteria:
1) Finding companies that are well on their way to developing gold
deposits into bankable assets. This means they have a resource calculation
and are fast moving towards feasibility. These companies get a huge
valuation lift when they announce resources, and they offer us incredible
profit potential going forward.
2) We must find the right mix of management talent who have a reputation
as mine finders and builders. Just like a quarterback in the Super Bowl,
you need a key guy and a team who can get the job done from start to
finish.
Once again, I�m following the money and the talent with my next gold pick.
Lero
Gold (LER-TSXV)
One of our best winners last year was UrAsia Energy which morphed into
Uranium One - Another triple digit winner that went from pennies to
dollars
in just a matter of months. A key player in that deal was Dr. Sergey
Kurzin
who seems to have a unique talent for sniffing out high potential resource
projects in the former Soviet Union (FSU) countries.
In fact, Lero�s entire management team has extensive familiarity with
�FSU� projects and the Company has assembled a good portfolio of gold and
base metal plays in central Asia. Their lead project is the Taldybulak
copper-gold target which lies within the prolific Tien-Shan gold belt. The
immediate objective for Lero is to advance this project toward a
Definitive
Feasibility Study (DFS).
In just a matter of weeks, Lero should have an initial resource
calculation ready, a 43-101 compliant report, which by my math will
outline
a 10 million ounce resource at their Taldybulak copper/gold property in
Kyrgyzstan. Oh, and add in almost 2 billion pounds of copper.
In addition, Lero does have the financial means to acquire advanced stage
projects. (I mean, UrAsia raised $500 million in 7 months for their
Central
Asian assets) To that end, the Company is evaluating projects within the
Tien-Shan belt which have the potential to be taken to the DFS stage
within
a 2-3 year time horizon.
