>France Considers Ban on Free Shipping by Amazon. Prepare for Economic collapse  - Mish - Global Economic Analysis
Mish said: "But France is France. So when does this fool announce a tax on Kindle or campaign to bring back the horse and buggy?

That was mean spirited and a low down snake of a statement that you made sir Mish, and uncalled for. The woman is concerned about losing part of they're culture to big business and that makes her a fool?...in your mind?
Who's fool are you Mish? You sound like a whore for big business.

Everybody likes the feel of a local bookshop and what it has to offer. Everybody also likes a good price on books so wha la...Amazon is very successful because of it. And I will admit that I am a big user of Amazon's book sales. But mostly it is because the kind of books I buy are hard to find and not sitting around here locally. I even live in the same town as Powell's books and many times they don't have what I'm looking for. But on occasion they do have the book, or books, and in that case I usually order online and then go down there and pick them up. Sometimes I just go down there and hang out and check out the local culture. Try that on Amazon.

I would hate to see Amazon OR the local bookseller go under. We know Amazon isn't going to, but I do feel for the local mom and pop trying to make it. They add a venue and a culture to a neighborhood that an online seller can't touch. The truth is that many bookshops do sell on Amazon because I have bought from them many times.
Is it possible to strike a balance? No, not really, because every book store in the world could go under and Amazon wouldn't care, except maybe to throw a big celebration party.
The lady has good reason to be concerned for her country's culture, but the truth is it is happening every where with just about every type of business. I personally hate it but that is because I am old enough to remember a world before TV remotes and wayy before the internet and how much more pleasant and relaxed and peaceful life seemed to be.
There sure wasn't anybody spraying chemicals over our heads either in those days and altering our weather. You want to see some big changes then just look up and check out what's going on right over your head. But that is a whole other topic isn't it.
You should have been with us back in those days Mish. It would give you more of an appreciation for what we had, have, and are losing.

Début de l'article :The amount of economic illiteracy in France is simply staggering. Please consider French minister hits at Amazon ‘dumping’. France’s culture minister has attacked Amazon, the online retailer, for deliberately undercutting traditional rivals to create a “quasi-monopoly”, in the latest assault by the socialist government on internet companies. “Today, everyone has had enough of Amazon which, through dumping practices, smashes prices to penetrate markets to then raise prices again once they are...
