>The Powerful Case for Silver  - Peter Schiff - Euro Pacific Capital
We tend to forget that there is another reason for the Ag/Au ratio going to 55-60:1. Increased demand for the base metals, copper, lead, and zinc, have substantially increased the silver supply. Then we had the dis-hoarding of silver coinage and bullion by central banks. Silver use to be ~$1.38USD/ozt.

Now this is a good thing as silver supplies (coin and bullion) held by central banks is non-existent. Demand is rising.

Natural systems attempt to balance. But these same systems only balance over the long term. On a short-term basis, the swings can get quite large. Enter the so-called economic masters of the universe and they push when they should pull. This increases the potential for extreme swings than can and do last for years, decades or the Dark Ages.

Silver was the coinage of merchants. Gold the coinage of the wealthy. Barter for the peons. Upward economic mobility was rare. You either have gold/silver or you don't and won't.

As a teenager, 5 silver dollars bought a carload of teenagers one helluva night on the town. Burgers, gas, beer and the drive-in. $1.50 for the burgers, $1.25 bought 5 gallons of gas, $0.39 a quart for beer and the drive-in was $1.00. That was for roughly 3.5 ozt of silver.

Silver will regain its place as a monetary metal and with a more attractive Au/Ag ratio. You see, a natural system emerges because it works on its own. You can only fool mother nature so long before she rips your head off and defecates down your neck.

While I am confident that gold will rebound with a vengeance before long, I think investors are potentially missing an even greater opportunity in that other monetary metal: silver. To address t...
