Good research and a good try, but you chased a chimera.
The message isn't gold producers, but gold versus financials.
Chart 1: 31 primary gold producers versus 1900+ financials.
Chart 2: primary gold producers 1, financials 111
Chart 3: primary gold producers 1, financials 3.6

Physical versus paper. If everything is hunky-dory in the economy, ... get the picture?
Still, good research. The charts really got my attention.
