>5 Point Test for Every Investment - Dennis Miller - Casey Reseach
#3 "Is there good opportunity for appreciation? While that might sound like a no-brainer, it must be looked at. In many cases there are good solid companies paying dividends like clockwork; yet their stock prices barely keep up with inflation. ..."

No brainer indeed. What conceivable train of logic would make you assume that company growth will be the norm in this declining economy? If it keeps up with inflation and pays steady dividends, I would lay my money down.
--------------

"... there are rumors of eliminating the deduction for mortgage interest, ... , one notable Congressman from New York used the discussion on taxing dividends to question the deductibility of donations to churches, synagogues and other places of worship. Can you imagine that?"

I would be joyous. I would dance naked in the rain. Let's look at these sacred cows while pour a bottle of barbecue sauce over them.
Mortgage interest deductions. Why should the nation subsidize a home buyer who, by taking out a mortgage, has proven they really couldn't afford the house? The home-builders? Basically another subsidy by your inference. Don't forget who is receiving these interest monies. And lastly, we are supposed to subsidize interest on real property bought on credit, but not the groceries the average family puts on their credit card near the end of every pay cycle? All subsidies reward poor performance and penalize acceptable or better performance. Do we want to socialize all risks?

Deduction for donations to churches, ... ? Once again you suggest by your snide remark, "Can you imagine that?", that it is imperative for the nation to subsidize your church. You of course offer to do the same for mine. Horse apples. Subsidies are never good except for those who get them. You brought this up, so I'll be forthright. God made the heavens and Earth supposedly (I lack definitive proof), so let God keep the lights on. If the only way a religious entity will obtain the needed revenues to minister to their ministry is by a tax deduction on donations, I have to ask myself, "Is this indicative poor, acceptable or outstanding performance?"
But I'm gonna suggest that we eliminate the entire concept of non-profits from existence. If an entity seeks corporation status, all get treated equally. Yep, churches, private schools, environmental groups and all the various bleeding heart societies for the prevention of herpes on bufo toads (BHSFTPOHOBT). Non-profit corporate status is a forced subsidy crammed down the throats of the masses for the benefit of the few. Shame on you and all the other members of the BHSFTPOHOBT. Let's, just for grins, consider this from a higher plane. If you aren't willing to donate without the deduction, is your heart in the right spot or in your wallet?

All subsidies reward poor performance and penalize acceptable or better performance.
I would NEVER suggest we penalize success and that is what every form of subsidy does. Subsidies beat the mule that labors in the field and hands lumps of sugar to the pretty pony.

Début de l'article :The issue is no longer one of waiting to see what the government is going to do; the real issue is what are we as investors going to do? When I say the investment paradigm has changed, I’m referring to a combination of factors. There are no more solid, safe investments paying any kind of decent yield that most retirees could possibly live on comfortably. Re-read that if you have to. Investors are being forced to take on more risk for yield. Some are doing it using an income strategy, some are... Lire la suite
