>The Great Enabler  - George F. Smith - Barbarous Relic
George Smith,

You're definitely on the right track. But telling truth about WW1 is old hat. There was a vigorous national debate in the 1920s over the causes of that horrible episode.

Sorry, but So What? Are you brave enough to apply critical thought to WW2? It's well known that the First Casualty of War is Truth, but are you willing to face the lies used to fool the American public into overcoming their longstanding "libertarian" and very American resistance to getting involved in foreign entanglements?

Harry Elmer Barnes edited and wrote two chapters of Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace, which explored the above for WW2. It's still in print.

If you want to dig deeper about how the "dumb public" has been fooled by government-abetted foundation-funded propagnada masquerading as "history" get yourself a copy of the 1980 Cato Paper #12, by Harry Barnes, w. James Martin Ed., "Historical Revisionism as the Key to Peace and other Essays." It's easily found through Alibris.

Good luck trying to telling people that they and their fathers and all their grandfathers have been fooled into dying for senseless wars going back thousands of years.

Mark Twain said that it's easy to fool a man, but once you do it's pretty much impossible to convince him that he's been fooled.

If you look up Harry Elmer Barnes through Alibris you'll find that many of his books are available in like-new reprints sold by a bookstore in Brooklyn NY. They have provided me with over 20 of his books sold for less than the cost of shipping and while he often lacks in "political correctness" that's because he is honest enough to express his opinions even if they are unpopular. All you'll find about him on the internet are smears calling him a holocaust denier because he made it very clear that the myth of WW2 being "The Good War" is nothing but myth manufactured by the warmongers, and quite successfilly.

I have given up on political action and have decided if I can show one or two people a year that they've been fooled their entire lives, then I've done my part in making the world a better place.

Harry Elmer Barnes was rabidly against war, all war, and for that he, the greatest social scientist of the 20th century, has been almost completely erased from human knowledge. It was not always so. His articles for the Encyclopedia American on THe History of History and The Rise of Nationalism, remained in print and unchanged for 20 and 40 years, respectively.

Besides being a historical sociologist and being the main proponent of the New History of Beard, Robinson, Shotwell in the Columbia School of historans, Barnes left academia to educate the masses with a newspaper column in the Chicagp Tribune. In the 1950s, everyone with a brain and an interest in politics knew his name.

Now, he's been erased from Knowledge. How can we have any freedom when knowledge is suppressed exactly as George Orwell described in the novle originally titled Nineteen Forty-Eight, which was the year it was completed and Orwell's hoped-for publication year? Who says? Orwell himseld was quoted to that effect by Stephen Spender as published in the New Yorker.

Début de l'article :Commentaries about World War I frequently talk about causes and consequences but almost never mention the enablers. At best, they might mention them approvingly, as if we were fortunate to have had the Fed and the income tax, along with the ingenuity of the Liberty Bond programs, to finance our glorious role in that bloodbath. Economist Benjamin Anderson, whose Economics and the Public Welfare has contributed greatly to our understanding of the period 1914-1946, and is a book I highly recomme... Lire la suite
