Ah yes, I've seen this comment on marketwatch.com. Probably the most ridiculous and blatant lie about gold I've ever seen. To call gold fiat is either to be completely ignorant of what fiat is, or to be deliberately lying to people. I suggest it's the latter, as I find it unlikely that Citi's Chief economist would be THAT ignorant, he has to be lying on purpose.
