I feel for you and appreciate your courage. Being placed in an unwinnable situation is never pleasant. Recognizing and acknowledging one's situation at least allows logical action to be taken. Better to regroup and live to fight another day. Advisors such as yourself are like coaches trying to run their team against crooked referees and league officials. It doesn't matter how good you or your players are, the outcome will be determined by those in control who have rigged the system for their own ends. Under such a circumstance I would tell the team, "if you want to play go ahead but don't expect to be rewarded for your effort. In fact you may be penalized, fined or otherwise punished for an outstanding performance." Good luck with that.
