Remember the US government seized a butt-load of Bitcoins from the Silk Road.
So when you buy, who are you buying from?
Can they trace where the sold Bitcoins went?
Your wallet?
Your purchases?
Do you really think that with all the assets of the CIA that Bitcoin users are running under the radar?

Going back to the quoted sentence, I would like to address the concept of legitimacy.
Some computer geek makes a program that invents a form of money.
They sell bits and bytes.
The buyer buys make-believe money.
Then everyone buying looks for the greater fool.
Legitimate?
Bitcoins and all crypto-currency are Ponzi schemes.
No, worse than that.
The buyers pay for invented bits and bytes that are purely make-believe.

And Jim Willie CB calls them legitimate.
