>Mandatory Depression Screening is A Depressing Thought - Ron Paul -
Par for the course Ron Paul once more distorts reality. The USPSTF did not recommend mandatory screening for depression. The USPSTF never recommends anything that is mandatory.

From its site: “Created in 1984, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force is an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine. The Task Force works to improve the health of all Americans by making evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings, counseling services, and preventive medications. All recommendations are published on the Task Force’s Web site and/or in a peer-reviewed journal.”

If you visit the website you will see hundreds of recommendations, from cancer screening to getting your teeth cleaned. None are mandatory and the USPSTF has no capacity to mandate anything.

What the USPSTF posted was this: The USPSTF recommends screening for depression in the general adult population, including pregnant and postpartum women. Screening should be implemented with adequate systems in place to ensure accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and appropriate follow-up.

No mandatory.

Ron Paul lies again. He squandered decades of his life calling for an audit of the U.S. Treasury’s gold, only to discover at the end of his Congressional career that it is audited every year and that a multi-year bar audit had been completed shortly before he compelled the Congress to hold hearings on the matter. In his opening remarks at that hearing he pointed out that no one had ever told him the audit information was available on the Treasury’s website. It is of course the responsibility of those who make public comments to check the veracity of their comments. No one else is responsible for educating him. There is no mandatory requirements that people check the facts before they make a fool of themselves over the course of decades in the public. Just as he is wrong on monetary policy, inflation, and the Fed.

The task force wants to force health insurance companies to pay for the screening. Basic economics, as well as the Obamacare disaster, should have shown this task force that government health insurance mandates harm Americans. Government health insurance mandates raise the price of health insurance. Consumers will respond to this increase by either choosing to not car... Lire la suite
