Who Wants the U.S. To Make War in Syria?

While reading this well thought out article, i was struck by the number of individuals who are members of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and just what a ludicrous name they have chosen for their group. What makes it so absurd is the fact that America itself is not a democracy, but a republic. (Even the CIA Factbook notes that "America is a repulic with strong democratic traditions".) Republics are the antihesis of democracies. Let us remember that the political philosopher who first came up with the idea was Plato. Plato hated democracies, for it was the Athenian democracy that made his beloved teacher, Socrates, drink hemlock. As for traditions, they come and they go. In America, i think it fair to say that the tradition of democracy is well on its way out; something that is still paid lip service to, but having no anchor in reality. In truth, with the president free to select any citizen he or she may choose for assassination without any checks on that power, America is no better than the Democratic Republic of North Korea or the Democratic Republic of the Congo....The electoral system itself is undemocratic; just gussied up to make it appear that way. But the candidate with the most votes is not assured of being the victor, as history has shown. It is the college of electors who actually chooses the president and none of their names appear on the ballot. So then, why is it that the FNN willfully turns a blind eye to the lack of real democracy in America? i would suggest it is because they could not give a rat's back side for democracy any more than the toads running North Korea or the DRC. Their use of the word "democracy" is intended to throw the sheeple off the track, making them believe that all is good with how things are. It is like the producers of coal branding their product "clean"; just so much jingoistic balderdash.
As for why the neocons are such proponents of endless war, it is because endless wars make them and their well connected friends fabulously wealthy. What it does to the nation is totally beside the point. As the unindicted war criminal Dick Cheney famousy noted: "Deficits don't matter".
