The Lagoon Creek Project abuts the NT-Queensland border and covers 194 km2. It is is located in the Northern Territory (NT) some 230km SE of Borroloola and 1250km SE of Darwin.

The Westmoreland Project was discovered by Mount Isa Mines in 1956 and has had a long history of exploration. Most recently it was held by Rio Tinto Exploration from 1990 until 2000.

|
The Westmoreland region lies within the Palaeoproterozoic Murphy Tectonic Ridge that separates the Mt Isa Inlier from the McArthur and South Nicholson Basins. Basement in the area comprises metasediments and quartzites of the Murphy Metamorphics which are unconformably overlain by two Proterozoic cover sequences, the Cliffdale Volcanics and the Tawallah Group.
