Midwest Corporation focuses on community with upcoming open day events

Iron ore developer, Midwest Corporation will hold consecutive Open Days in Morawa and Perenjori this month to give community members the chance to find out more about the Company’s operations in the region.

The community Open Days will be held in Morawa on Tuesday 27 May in the Morawa Lesser Hall, and in Perenjori on Wednesday 28 May in the Perenjori Recreation Centre, with both events kicking off at 11.00am and concluding at 7.00pm.

The events are part of Midwest’s community consultation program, and are being held prior to the release of its Blue Hills and Koolanooka Public Environment Review (PER) document next month.

According to Midwest’s Development Manager John Kelly, the events are designed to provide a forum for locals to learn about the Company in a relaxed environment.

Midwest is working to progress our Koolanooka and Blue Hills projects, and it’s important to ensure everyone is aware of our operations and what they mean for the sustainability of the Mid West region and local communities,” Mr Kelly said.

“We’re inviting local schools, families, business people and government to come along and talk to us about how we can work together,” he explained.

“The Open Day also presents an opportunity for attendees to speak directly to senior management.”

The event will include displays on all aspects of Midwest’s operations, including employment, community and the environment.

Midwest is keen to optimise opportunities for local businesses in the region and provide employment opportunities for community members where possible,” Mr Kelly said.

“We have a commitment to employ local people where the appropriate skills and jobs are available, and the Open Days will allow community members to find out how they can be involved.”
