Swan
Drilling ? Initial Preliminary Success
Vancouver,
B.C. ? May 27, 2008 ? Hastings Resources Corp. (TSX Venture: HAS) (?Hastings?
or the ?Company?) is pleased to provide a progress report on the exploration program being carried out
on its Swan molybdenum ? tungsten project located in the Jennings River area of
northern British Columbia.
As of May
25, 2008, eight core drill holes aggregating 688 meters had been
completed.? Drilling is ongoing and it is
anticipated that a total of 14 holes aggregating roughly 1,000 meters will be
drilled.? Preliminary core logging has
recorded visible molybdenite
mineralization in all holes so
far completed.? The zone as presently
defined by drilling measures roughly 950 meters (north ? south) by about 800
meters (east west) and is open in all
directions and to depth.? Vertical
depth of holes varies from 50 to 110 meters.?
The first shipment of split core has been shipped to Eco Tech Laboratory
for analyses and results will be released as they are received.
The Swan property is a porphyry-type,
molybdenum ? tungsten prospect which was discovered in the early 1970?s and saw
limited, preliminary exploration at that time.?
Data from the early exploration was integrated with recent geological
mapping and extensive geochemical surveys to select several prospective
targets.? The prospect is largely
overburden covered but sampling of mineralized sub-crop and extensive boulder
fields has averaged 0.09% Mo.? The 1970?s exploration did not recognize the
presence of tungsten minerals which appear to be a significant part of the
mineralized system with values up to 0.4% W having been returned from 2007
sampling.? The purpose of the current
program is to test the porphyry system in a preliminary manner and based on the
results of this work, the Company will determine how best to proceed with its
further evaluation.
The Swan property is located roughly
equidistant from the Adanac Molybdenum Corporation?s Ruby Creek molybdenum
deposit, the Largo Resources? Logtung tungsten-molybdenum deposit and the
Columbia Yukon Explorations? Storie molybdenum deposit, all of which are at the
advanced definition drilling or feasibility stage.
The Company?s exploration programs are
supervised by James M. Dawson, P.Eng., a Consulting Geologist and a Qualified
Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
Mr. Jim Dawson has supervised the
preparation of the scientific and technical information that forms the basis of
this news release.
