ROCMEC OBTAINS PATENTS FOR THERMAL FRAGMENTATION IN AUSTRALIA
Pointe-Claire, Quebec, June 26th, 2008 ? Rocmec Mining inc. (TSX-V Symbol: RMI - FSE Symbol: D5O) is pleased to announce it has received confirmation that the patent filing pertaining to its thermal fragmentation process for Australia has been accepted. The patent number for Australia is 2003285235 dated November 5th, 2003. This new patent is in addition to the ones previously obtained for the United States, Canada, Morocco, South Africa, Mexico and Russia.
This is an important milestone for the company given Australia's significance in the global mining industry. The country ranks as the world's fourth largest gold producer with annual production of 249 000 kg of gold during 2007, accounting for over 10% of worldwide production. Furthermore, it has the second largest reserve with approximately 12% of the World's holdings according to the USGS. The recent lack of discovery of large world class deposits in the country and its need to optimise its existing mine production makes this a promising market for Rocmec?s thermal fragmentation mining process.
