TANZANIA PROJECTS

RECENT EXPLORATION DEVELOPMENTS

July 9, 2008 Vancouver, B.C.:  Atomic Minerals Ltd. (ATL: TSX-V) is pleased to present the following exploration update on its projects in southwestern Tanzania.

As reported in our press release dated March 26, 2008, Atomic entered into an exploration services agreement with Geo Can Resources Company Ltd. (Geo Can) to undertake initial groundwork and geological evaluation on three of Atomics properties (PLR 4335, PL 4254 and PLR 4433) all located in the Mbinga/Songea project area. This has been completed, in addition to a high-resolution helicopter-borne radiometric and magnetic survey performed by New Resolution Geophysics (NRG) of South Africa.  The final interpretation and report on this airborne survey is expected to be completed by NRG by the middle of July.

Mr. Peter Chadwick, who was appointed Atomics Vice-President - Exploration for Africa (see our press release dated April 22, 2008), spent the entire month of May in Tanzania and completed a number of key tasks:

  • Established support infrastructure and staff for Atomic Minerals Exploration Ltd. (Atomic Tanzania), Atomics Tanzanian subsidiary.
  • Reviewed all existing project data with Geo Can.
  • Undertook a field inspection of eight of Atomics ten Tanzanian properties.
  • Met with key officials with the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in addition to the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission.
Mr. Chadwick returned to Tanzania at the end of June to initiate follow-up groundwork in the Mbinga/Songea project area.  The following reflects the current status of exploration activity to date with the focus of prioritizing targets for future drilling and further exploration.
    Mbinga/Songea Project Area (PLs 4335, 4433 & 4254)
  • PLR 4335/07:  A reconnaissance ground-borne scintillometer survey was undertaken by Geo Can in late 2007, and identified three radiometric anomalies.  These will form the focus of future exploration, supported by the results of the airborne survey of NRG, which should be completed by mid-July.
  • PLR 4433/07:  Field reconnaissance undertaken by Geo Can identified a single radiometric anomaly located close to the Njoka River.  The precise source of the anomaly is unclear at present.  A recent field inspection undertaken by Atomic did recognise a regional NNW-SSE trending radiometric anomaly, cutting through the central portion of the property.  This highly significant trend will be subjected to future field exploration as a priority, supported by the results of the NRG airborne survey.
  • PL 4254/07:  A brief field visit was made by Mr. Chadwick in May.  No active field work on this license has been performed to date.

The current focus for Atomic in the near future will be to continue to map and further identify targets for drilling on PL4433 and PLR 4335. Upon receipt of the final airborne survey from NRG and further ground trenching and sampling results, drilling will commence on priority targets in the third quarter of 2008.  All other properties optioned by Atomic in Tanzania will be evaluated and assessed throughout the remainder of 2008.

Qualified Person
Mr. Peter Chadwick, M.Sc., P.Geo., Pr.Sci.Nat., is the Vice-President of Exploration (Africa) for Atomic Minerals Ltd., and is the Qualified Person (as defined by National Instrument 43-101) responsible for the accuracy of the technical information contained in this news release.

Background
Atomic holds an option to earn up to a 100% interest in a land package totalling approximately 3800 square kilometres located in the United Republic of Tanzania (the Properties) from Geo Can.  The largest of the Properties are located in southwestern Tanzania and are considered to be part of the Malawi Extension based on the location of the Property relative to blocks earmarked as potentially favourable for uranium enrichment.  The Malawi Extension, located in the Republic of Malawi on southwest border of Tanzania, hosts the Kayelekera deposit which Paladin Resources is currently developing into a mine.  Other mining companies exploring in the area include Mantra Resources and Western Metals (both in Tanzania).
