Integrated energy developer Aviva Corporation Limited (ASX:AVA, BSE:AVIVA) has submitted a qualifying document in response to a Request For Qualification (RFQ) from Eskom for Independent Power Projects (IPPs).

The qualifying document for a 1,000MW power plant based on the Mmmantswe coal project was prepared in conjunction with SUEZ-Tractebel SA who has provided a letter of support for the project. SUEZ-Tractebel SA is part of the GDF SUEZ group a leading global energy provider.

Eskom, the South African power utility, requested proposals for the supply of up to 4,500MW from Independent Power Producers located in South Africa.
