VAL D'OR, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec 8, 2014) - Hinterland Metals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:HMI) ("Hinterland" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has completed a 75 line-kilometre ground electromagnetic survey on its 34-claim (1,475-hectare) Guyberry property, located in Guyenne and Berry townships, approximately 95 kilometres northwest of Val d'Or. The Guyberry property was staked to cover a 10 kilometre section of Archean volcanic stratigraphy adjacent to the southern margin of a felsic intrusion. Although only limited mapping and exploration work has been done in this area, it appears that the volcanic-intrusive contact is delimited by the Chicobi Deformation Zone (CDZ).
The electromagnetic data collected by Hinterland was combined with publically available airborne magnetic data to augment the interpretation process. The merged data clearly distinguishes two magnetic domains separated by a sharp boundary and identified twenty (20) conductive linear anomalies. Eight (8) of these anomalies are considered to be first-order priority with respect to gold potential. The most interesting result of the electromagnetic survey is a narrow, linear zone of relative high resistivity that extends over 1.6 kilometres. This zone is coincident with the sharp boundary between the two magnetic domains, and is within a segment of the boundary where there are numerous disruptions of both the magnetic and electromagnetic patterns. These disruptions are interpreted to represent faults.
Maps of the Guyberry project can be viewed at the Company website.
Hinterland intends to further investigate the gold potential of the identified anomalies with a detailed induced polarization-resistivity survey to better image the geometry of conductive and chargeable sources. It is anticipated that this work will be completed in 2015.
