Visitors to this year's Jacaranda Day Festival in Goombungee are set to enjoy learning about the region's vibrant history thanks to a donation from the New Hope Group.

Organisers of the Jacaranda Day Festival, the Rosalie Shire Historical Society, have received support from the New Hope Group to help celebrate the former shire's train and railway past.

Rosalie Shire Historical Society secretary Cathy Hartley said the donation from New Hope would greatly assist the group in their activities.

"The Jacaranda Day Festival in Goombungee is a great way of keeping the community spirit of the former Rosalie Shire alive," she said.

"This donation from New Hope enables us to purchase a hoist to help mount the historical rail items for our float.

"Without New Hope's generous donation, we wouldn't be able to participate in the parade."

A model railway, created by the society with the support of New Hope, will also be on display for visitors to the Festival.

New Acland Mine General Manager Andrew McDonald encouraged community members to celebrate this year's festival.

"The Jacaranda Festival is an important event on the district's calendar, with hundreds of people from across the region attending every year," he said.

"New Hope has a proud tradition of supporting community groups such as the Rosalie Shire Historical Society through our Sponsorship and Donations program.

"As well as checking out the fantastic displays and parade at this year's festival, keep an eye out for the decorated jacaranda trees in the main street - see if you can spot the New Hope Group's jacaranda!"
