The 16th April marked a very important day for Spire Manchester as it was the ground breaking ceremony which signified the beginning of the building work for the new Spire Manchester Hospital in West Didsbury.
Chris Chadwick, Hospital Director of Spire Manchester was joined by Dawn Davies, Matron and Head of Clinical Services at Spire Manchester and Neil McCullough, Spire's Group Development Director, to cut the first sod. Representatives from Siemens, Vinci Building Contractors and project managers Turner and Townsend, also attended the event for the new hospital which is due to be completed by early 2017.
Chris Chadwick, Hospital Director at Spire Manchester Hospital, commented: "Today marks the first step in the construction process for this flagship development, which represents a significant investment by Spire Healthcare. The new hospital will bring new Spire services to the people of Manchester and surrounding areas, plus a focus on research and education. We expect the new hospital to provide employment and economic benefits to the local area from this great new venture."

Dawn Davies, Matron and Head of Clinical Services at Spire Manchester Hospital, commented: "The new hospital will offer fantastic new opportunities for our patients and staff alike, with increased theatre and ward capacity, larger patient accommodation and the capability for new services. The team is really looking forward to bringing these modern services to the people of Manchester and surrounding areas."
