HIGH GRADE DRILL RESULTS DEFINE NEW SOUTHERN SHOOT
VDD 196
5.25m at 2.0% Cu
Highlights
-
Diamond drill hole VDD 196 has returned intersections of:
-
13.8m at 1.4% Cu from 557.9m; including
-
10.4m at 1.6% Cu from 557.9m, including
5.25m at 2.0% Cu from 559.5m
-
These results define the emergence of another high grade shoot in the southern area of D Zone.
-
This intersection is located 100m below that of the nearest hole and outside of the November 2015 Mineral Resource estimate area.
Avalon Minerals Limited ('Avalon' or 'Company') (ASX: AVI) is pleased to announce further strong copper ("Cu") assay results of greater than 2% Cu from drilling in the southern portion of D Zone in hole VDD 196.
Drill hole VDD 196 (Figure 2) intersected a copper mineralised ironstone and altered sequence over a down hole interval of approximately 45m. VDD 196 has been drilled at depth below holes VDD 163 and 155 which intersected down hole intervals of 3.8m at 1.8% Cu and 5m at 1.4% Cu respectively. The concept of a southern high grade shoot is supported by these recent results and will be the target of drilling in 2016.

The intervals presented are down hole widths, and true widths are expected to be approximately 60% of the downhole width. Cu values rounded to 1 decimal figure.
These results strengthen the interpretations of mineralised shoot geometry and demonstrate the emergence of a southern D Zone high grade shoot. This once again broadens the set of targets for additional copper mineralisation at D Zone.
The intersection in VDD 196 is open to the north, south and at depth.
Avalon's Managing Director, Mr Malcolm Norris said, "These results further enhance the D Zone orebody by defining high grade mineralisation outside of the resource area and delivering to what the recent Scoping Study required - additional tonnes to support the next phase of assessment at a development scale of 2 million tonnes per annum throughput."

Quoted intercepts are downhole intervals. Southwest plunging lenses of improving grade and thickness at depth are being defined as further drilling is undertaken. The 2015 Mineral Resource estimate includes data from holes up to VDD 194 only (excludes VDD 195 and 196).
