LUNA GOLD ANNOUNCES CLOSING OF PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED PRIVATE PLACEMENT FINANCING

Vancouver, British Columbia - August 29, 2016 - Luna Gold Corp. ("Luna" or the "Company") has completed its private placement offering of units in the Company as previously announced on August 15 and August 16, 2016. Under the private placement, a total of 35,000,000 units were sold at a price of C$0.20 per unit for gross proceeds of C$7.0 million. Each Unit consisted of one common share of the Company, and one common share purchase warrant (a "Warrant"). Each Warrant is exercisable at a price of C$0.25 per common share for a period of 60 months from the closing of the Offering.
Proceeds from the Financing will be used to complete technical work required to restart the Aurizona Gold Mine, as well as for general working capital purposes.
