Investigation by the NSW Department of Industry and Investment
Wollongong Coal (WCL) notes the article in the Illawarra Mercury yesterday regarding an investigation by the NSW's State Government's mining regulator following allegations the company is not a "fit and proper person" to hold a mining license.
The Department of Industry and Investment has advised WCL that it is carrying out an investigation for the purposes of section 380A of the Mining Act 1992.
As such, WCL does not consider it appropriate to comment on this investigation. However, WCL assures of full cooperation with the investigation. WCL, unequivocally, considers the allegations to be completely baseless.
WCL reserves all its rights to take appropriate action in relation to any determination that it is not a fit and proper person for the purposes of the Mining Act 1992.
