ST GEORGE COMMENCES DEEP SEARCH EM SURVEY OVER THE CATHEDRALS BELT

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Deep penetrating fixed loop electromagnetic (FLEM) survey has commenced over the Cathedrals Belt

  • FLEM survey uses the powerful SAMSON system that has potential to detect conductive targets at depths of 500m or more

  • Survey area for deep search EM is significantly increased and will cover the currently defined extents of the Cathedrals Belt as well as prospective areas to the north and south

  • New airborne magnetic survey has been completed over all the granted tenements at Mt Alexander with results due shortly

HIGH POWERED EM SURVEY OVER THE CATHEDRALS BELT

St George Mining Limited (ASX: SGQ) ('St George Mining' or 'the Company') is pleased to announce that a deep search FLEM survey has commenced at the Mt Alexander Project in Western Australia.

The new EM survey will cover a 3.5km strike length of the Cathedrals Belt where St George has made multiple discoveries of shallow massive nickel‐copper sulphides in the two drill programmes completed earlier this year. Nineteen diamond drill holes completed by St George in the Cathedrals Belt have intersected high grade nickel‐copper sulphides at depths ranging from 25m to 170m from surface.

The primary objective of the high powered FLEM survey is to detect any deep conductors in the Cathedrals Belt below the depth of detection of previous EM surveys. The new survey will also assist to define extensions of known mineralisation as well as any other conductors that may not have been detected by previous EM surveys due to system limitations.

The FLEM survey will use the deep penetrating SAMSON system developed by GAP Geophysics. The system utilises a very powerful transmitter and can deliver twice the depth penetration typically achieved by the conventional EM surveys undertaken at the Cathedrals Belt to date.

St George Mining Executive Chairman, John Prineas said:

"We are very pleased to have commenced the first ever deep search EM survey at the Cathedrals Belt.

"With every conductor drilled in this Belt confirmed as nickel‐copper sulphides, we know that this is a highly mineralised Belt where EM targeting works.

"The deep search survey is exploring areas of the Belt not yet tested and has the potential to deliver an important exploration breakthrough."

The field work for the FLEM survey is expected to be completed within two weeks. Modelling and interpretation of the survey data will then be completed by Newexco.

The FLEM survey will involve the collection of 35 lines of data using 5 transmitter loops of 800m x 800m; see Figure 1. Line spacing is 100m and the station spacing is 50m to 100m. Further close spaced readings may be conducted in response to survey results.

The area to be covered by the deep search FLEM survey has been significantly increased following a design enhancement recommended by Newexco. Every third line of the FLEM survey will be extended to the north and south by approximately 1km in each direction. This will enable the survey to screen a significantly larger area which includes a number of geological features ‐ including localised magnetic highs and interpreted structures - which may be prospective for nickel‐copper sulphides.

The additional survey stations will approximately triple the area screened for significant conductors while only increasing the survey acquisition costs by around 20%.

REGIONAL AEROMAGNETIC SURVEY

St George has completed a new airborne magnetic survey over the four granted tenements at Mt Alexander; see Figure 2. A total of 4,472 line kilometres were flown in the survey, which was completed on a 50m line spacing with a sensor height around 40m.

The objective of the aeromagnetic survey is to provide high resolution magnetic data for all the Project area to assist in the generation of new regional targets. Newexco is currently modelling and interpreting the survey data.

Of particular interest are any new structural corridors parallel to the Cathedrals Belt which may also host similar mineralised ultramafics. The magnetic data will also assist in recognising if the Cathedrals Belt extends to the north‐east into tenement E29/954 - a newly granted tenement owned 100% by St George which has never been explored.

ABOUT THE MT ALEXANDER PROJECT

The Mt Alexander Project is located 120km south‐southwest of the Agnew‐Wiluna belt which hosts numerous world class nickel deposits. The Project comprises four granted exploration licences - E29/638, E29/548, E29/962 and E29/954.

The Cathedrals, Stricklands and Investigators nickel‐copper discoveries are located on E29/638, which is held in joint venture by Western Areas Limited (25%) and St George (75%). St George is the Manager of the Project with Western Areas retaining a 25% non‐contributing interest in the Project (in regard to E29/638 only) until there is a decision to mine.
