VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Silver Wheaton Corp. (SLW) on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $83 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had net income of 19 cents.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 22 cents per share.
The precious metals streaming company posted revenue of $233.2 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $257.2 million.
Silver Wheaton shares have climbed 94 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $24.08, a rise of 89 percent in the last 12 months.
