Tournigan 2007 Operational Update - Uranium Properties
======================================================================
Tournigan Gold Corporation (TVC:TSX-V; TGP:Frankfurt) is pleased to
provide shareholders with a 2007 operational update of its uranium
properties in Slovakia and the United States. Tournigan's ambitious
plans call for more than 38,000 metres of drilling and nearly $10
million Canadian of expenditures on its uranium properties by fiscal
year end, August 31, 2007.
"This year, Tournigan intends on demonstrating its commitment to
advancing its uranium projects in both Slovakia and the U.S.", said
James Walchuck, President and CEO. "Our $10 million in planned work
program spending should provide a steady stream of results during the
year."
Slovakia
Jahodna
Tournigan plans to spend $4.5 million on Jahodna during fiscal 2007.
The work being undertaken includes the preparation of a new independent
resource calculation based on 2006 drilling, which is to be delivered
by A.C.A. Howe by the end of June, and a new preliminary assessment on
an expanded deposit to be prepared by the end of December.
Drilling to be conducted at Jahodna will include in-fill holes located
on a close-spaced grid planned for the near surface part of the
southeast portion of the Jahodna deposit, and several deep exploration
drill holes to test the down-plunge extension of the northwest part of
the deposit.
The goal of the close-spaced drilling is to allow Tournigan to increase
its understanding of the Jahodna deposit as well as move a portion of
the deposit from the inferred to the indicated resource category.
Novovesk Huta
A confirmation drill program planned for Novovesk Huta in 2007 is
expected to verify the historic Novovesk Huta resource and bring it up
to an inferred resource as defined by the Canadian Institute of Mining
standards. In addition, several holes will test the possibility of
high-grade uranium mineralization in structures immediately west of the
resource.
Jahodna - Novovesk Huta Geophysical Survey
Tournigan has acquired an exploration licence (Kluknava) covering over
60 km of favourable geology located between Jahodna in the east to
Novoveska Huta in the west. A contract has been signed with McPhar
Geosurveys to conduct an airborne radiometrics and magnetics survey
over the Jahodna--Novovesk Huta trend and the Spisska Teplica
concession. Permitting is underway and the survey is expected to take
place in early May. It is hoped that data from this survey will
identify new uranium targets. In 2007, Tournigan is planning on
spending $1.1 million in total at Novovesk Huta to conduct both
drilling and geophysics.
USA
Arizona Breccia Pipes
In March of this year, Tournigan reported that anomalous pathfinder
elements, which are indicative of the possible presence of uranium,
have been found at surface over 22 breccia pipes in the northern
Arizona Strip uranium district. Also reported, was that a surface rock
sample collected over one of the pipes contained 0.12% uranium. A drill
program is expected to commence in May of this year with 12 priority
pipes being drilled by year end. A budget of approximately $2.4 million
has been allocated to Arizona.
In addition to the initial test work that identified five pipes with
surface uranium samples, additional pathfinder element anomalies have
been detected in several newly prospected breccia pipes. Rock samples
from two of the newly prospected pipes contain anomalous uranium
concentrations as well.
Wyoming
Tournigan now holds interests in properties covering 37 kilometres in
strike length of potential uranium roll front mineralization in the
western half of the Great Divide Basin. The southeastern part of the
property is within eight miles of the Sweetwater uranium mill and
property. In-fill drilling of a historic deposit as well as step-out
exploration drilling is slated to begin later this summer. The work
program budget in Wyoming is $1.5 million.
South Dakota
Tournigan's claims cover part of the ground that was initially held by
Union Carbide and the Tennessee Valley Authority as part of a larger
block known as the Chord claims. These claims encompassed more than 40
small uranium bearing open pits as well as a few underground
operations. Combined operations on the Chord Property produced uranium
intermittently from the early 1950's until the late 1960's, supplying a
former mill at Edgemont. These claims lie just across the Wyoming-South
Dakota state border. Tournigan is in negotiations to obtain historic
claim maps and drill logs for these claims.
Dr. Kent Ausburn, VP Exploration, Tournigan Gold, a Qualified Person as
defined by National Instrument 43-101, has reviewed and approved the
technical disclosure contained in this news release.
Tournigan has built a portfolio of highly prospective uranium and gold
properties in both Europe and North America. The Company intends to
develop its best prospects. Tournigan has focused its efforts in
