Gibson Visits Praxair's Hydrogen Production Plant and Praxair Technology Center for Tour, Business Discussion and Press Event
LATHAM, N.Y., Sept. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG), a leader in providing clean, reliable energy solutions today participates in a tour of a Praxair hydrogen plant with Congressman Chris Gibson (R-NY), followed by a press event at the Praxair, Inc. Technology Center in Tonawanda, NY. Congressman Gibson will tour Praxair's hydrogen production facility with Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh and Praxair's East Region Vice President Jeff Barnhard.
Congressman Gibson will discuss how Upstate New York manufacturers and technology developers are enabling clean energy technologies for use in many industries, including material handling. Among many of the progressive solutions on display, Congressman Gibson will have the opportunity to operate a Plug Power GenDrive-powered lift truck and simulate a refueling from a GenFuel hydrogen fueling dispenser.
Plug Power currently has more than 8,500 GenDrive fuel cells deployed and to-date has constructed more than 15 GenFuel hydrogen fueling infrastructures in North America for material handling and stationary power customers, such as Walmart, Kroger, Uline and SouthernLINC Wireless. Plug Power GenDrive units have accumulated more than 107 million hours of runtime and its GenFuel infrastructures have dispensed more than 330 metric tons of hydrogen, equating to more than 3,000 fills per day.
"Investment in our GenFuel hydrogen storage and dispensing technology has enabled increased market growth for Plug Power," said Andy Marsh, Plug Power CEO. "Our solutions deliver clean, productivity-enhancing hydrogen fuel cells to customers and are allowing us to broaden our achievements in the thriving material handling industry and also expansion into other markets like: retail, ground support equipment and stationary power."
Congressman Chris Gibson represents the people of New York's 19th Congressional District, including many employees at Plug Power. Throughout his Congressional career, Congressman Gibson has been a fervent supporter of fuel cells and hydrogen technologies. Through bi-partisan leadership, Gibson has demonstrated his clear understanding of what it takes to make a clean energy business successful in Upstate New York. Congressman Gibson has pledged his support for development of the industry by championing policies like the hydrogen fuel cell tax credit.
"I am excited to spend time with the innovative, hard-working New Yorkers who are leading the way in the development and production of hydrogen fuel cell technology," said Congressman Chris Gibson (NY-19). "I want to thank Plug Power and Praxair for giving me the opportunity to learn more about this important industry. They are clean energy pioneers, and I am proud to partner with them in our efforts to lower energy costs for American consumers and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels."
On June 4, 2015, during the Washington DC leg of Plug Power's nationwide six-city road show, Congressman Gibson offered comments and praise for Plug Power's success in expanding the adoption of its environmentally friendly hydrogen and fuel cells solutions.
