PRIVATE PLACEMENT FIRST TRANCHE CLOSED

Vancouver, BC: Ross River Minerals Inc. (TSX-V: RRM) (the "Company") announces that it has closed the first tranche of the private placement announced on December 6, 2007. The Company issued 1,600,000 units for gross proceeds of $160,000. Each unit consists of one share and one-half share purchase warrant with each full share purchase warrant entitling the holder to purchase one common share for a period of twelve months from closing at $0.15 per share. The securities have a four month hold period until May 18, 2008. The balance of the previously announced private placement of $140,000 is expected to close by February 15, 2008. There is a finder's fee due of 8,000 units and $800.00 in cash which will be paid upon the close of the second tranche.

The net proceeds from this private placement will be used for general working capital and expenditures on the Company's El Pulpo property located in Sinaloa State, Mexico.
