San Donato Milanese (MI), 23 October 2015 - Eni, the Official Partner for Sustainability Initiatives in African Countries of EXPO Milan 2015, is organizing a meeting today at Casa Corriere at the Universal Exposition focusing on 'Il Teatro Fa Bene', a public health information project for Mozambique, designed and supported by the Eni Foundation and coordinated by Jacopo Fo and Bruno Patierno.
Il Teatro Fa Bene aims to teach the Mozambique population living in the district of Palma in the northern province of Cabo Delgado about good health, hygiene and eating habits, particularly in relation to pregnancy and infant care, in a more effective way than traditional communication methods allow.
The talk will be moderated by Giuseppe Sarcina, a journalist for Corriere della Sera. Also in attendance will be actor and playwright Jacopo Fo, the professor Eduardo Missoni, expert in public health and community, the director and scriptwriter Iacopo Patierno, and Filippo Uberti, Secretary General of the Eni Foundation.
Il Teatro Fa Bene is a synthesis of the Makua and Makonde theatre groups and the Teatro dell'Arte and constitutes a new format, based on the dramatisation of health and nutritional information, with demonstrations and tips on how to use simple technological methods in daily life. A team of Italian actors, videographers and scriptwriters has been working with actors from Mozambique to rehearse the shows for the tour throughout the villages of the Palma area (Cabo Delgado), in the extreme north of Mozambique, reaching a total audience of about 25,000 people.
The event at Expo will offer an opportunity to reflect on the subject of health in Mozambique, with a particular focus on pregnancy and infant care in a geographical area where, along with the Eni Foundation, the charity Medici con l'Africa Cuamm also operates. At the exhibition there will also be a discussion on the different sustainability projects that Eni is carrying out in Mozambique which aim to improve the living conditions and wellbeing of the local communities, in addition to promoting access to water, energy, and fair and inclusive socio-economic development.
