VANCOUVER, May 9 /CNW/ - Heatherdale Resources Ltd. ("Heatherdale" or the "Company") (TSXV: HTR) announces that at the Company's recently held Annual General Meeting shareholders elected two new directors, Patrick R. Smith, LG, and Walter T. Segsworth, P.Eng., to its Board of Directors. They join Rene Carrier, Judy Thomson, Robert Dickinson, David Copeland, Scott Cousens and Sharon Gardiner who were re-elected to the Board at the meeting.
Patrick R. Smith is a professional geologist with 35 years of practical and executive management experience in the international minerals industry. He served 32 years within the Rio Tinto organization, including senior posts as Managing Director Exploration, Australasia Region based in Perth, Australia and Exploration Executive based in London, UK. During that time Mr. Smith was involved with a series of globally diverse mineral exploration and development projects spanning a range of mineral commodities, including gold, copper, molybdenum, iron ore, diamonds, industrial minerals and metallurgical coal. Mr. Smith was appointed President and CEO of Heatherdale in October 2010.
Walter T. Segsworth joins the board as an independent director. He is a professional engineer who has been an active and respected member of the international mining industry for over 30 years. He has an excellent track record in employee safety, environmental excellence and turn around production situations, and particular expertise with underground mines. During Mr. Segsworth's tenure as President, Chief Operating Officer and Director at Homestake Mining Company, the Company set a 125 year gold production record and its operating costs reached 25 year lows. Mr. Segsworth is a past Director and Chairman of the Mining Associations of Canada and British Columbia, and has been recognized as British Columbia Mining Industry Person of the Year. Mr. Segsworth has been a director of several public companies, and is currently on the boards of Plutonic Power and Pan American Silver.
