Selwyn Expands Management Team
Vancouver, BC, August 16, 2011 � Selwyn Resources Ltd. (SWN.TSX-V) (�Selwyn) is pleased to announce that it has expanded its management team with the addition of Rick MacInnis as General Manager and Lin Kramer, Mine Operations Manager, at the ScoZinc mine in Nova Scotia.
Dr. Harlan Meade, Selwyn�s President and CEO said that �the addition of Mr. MacInnis and Mr. Kramer is another important step in preparing for the Company�s transition to production status with the restart of the ScoZinc mine operations. Mr. MacInnis and Mr. Kramer together bring a wealth of mine operations experience to the Selwyn team which will be critical to the success of the ScoZinc mine and to other core projects in the organization. Selwyn welcomes Rick and Lin to the team.�
Mr. MacInnis, as General Manager, is responsible for providing leadership and oversight in restart activities to bring ScoZinc to production status in 2012, and leading and managing the new production team at the mine. Mr. MacInnis holds a B.Sc in Metallurgical Engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is a registered professional engineer, and brings over 30 years experience in the mining industry in Canada, Europe and South America, most recently as Vice President of Operations for Gammon Gold in Mexico.
Mr. Kramer, as Mine Operations Manager, will work with Mr. MacInnis in mine refurbishment activities and will oversee all aspects of the operation including the mine, mill, maintenance and engineering. Mr. Kramer has a B.Sc in Mining Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and has extensive experience in mine management, planning and engineering in the United States and Canada with a number of mining companies including Buyrus International, Agrium and Rio Tinto.
Both Mr. MacInnis and Mr. Kramer will report to Mr. Joe Ringwald, Vice President of Mining for Selwyn Resources, who is responsible for the restart of ScoZinc mine. Mr. MacInnis and Mr. Kramer are currently at the mine site and undertaking engineering and field studies to develop a detailed plan for restarting operations.
Selwyn�s primary focus is the exploration and development of its properties that make up the Selwyn Project in the Yukon, which hosts large tonnages of zinc-lead mineralization. The known deposits at Selwyn Project have the potential for large scale production, and to provide a secure supply of zinc and lead to meet the future needs of the zinc and lead markets in Asia. The recently announced acquisition of the assets of ScoZinc Limited, provide Selwyn with a second opportunity for growth and the potential for production revenues in 2012.
