Material Added to Leach Pad - Construction of the new Heap continued and has now reached about 103,000 tonnes, 30,000 tonnes of ore was taken from the final blast in the Open Pit, abandoned in 2000, 10,000 tonnes came from the recently developed El Pozo prospect, SE of the Pit, while the remainder was taken from the uncrushed Heap proper.
Construction of the new Heap continues to be oriented towards rapid development of as large a surface area as possible. The top dimension is now approximately 200 m x 32 m and is approaching one complete transverse slice through the former (uncrushed) Heap.
The Company has recently replaced the Cat 980 G Front-end Wheel Loader with a Cat 988 B unit having a larger bucket which has accelerated the feed rate to the crusher by some 34%. Delivery of a Cat D9R dozer is expected this week which will further increase the efficiency of ore movement to the crusher and the opening up of leachable areas.

Crusher Operations - The Nordberg NW 1415 Impact Crusher operated normally during the reporting period with an increase in output in the last few days due to the introduction of larger loading equipment as described above. A manufacturer's representative is expected on site this week to make further adjustments to the unit and its associated equipment, conveyor belts, etc. in order to increase output.
Accessing More Mineable Material - Assay results were received for the most recent work at El Pozo. Geological analysis indicates a further 4,000 tonnes that could be ripped and deposited on the new Heap. While awaiting the El Pozo assay results, samples were taken from the El Cobre trenches which, when assayed, led to an estimate of 9,000 tonnes of mineable material. Further assay results from El Cobre remain pending. The El Este prospect continues to be a future priority.
Leaching- Approximately 90% of the new Heap is currently under leach. Pregnant solution is being accumulated in the Pregnant Pond, transferred to the Barren Pond and returned to the new Heap at a cyanide concentration of 500 ppm and a flow rate of approximately 200 USGPM. (increasing). The emergency pond is being kept at a low level for cleaning and to guard against any difficulties arising from sudden and/or heavy rainfall. There have been some recent storms. Following receipt of lamps for copper and silver, the Assay Laboratory is essentially operative for Atomic Absorption (AA) work. Some final reagents are expected this week. Fire assay furnaces are still awaited.
Fresh carbon is being processed by attrition to remove fines, prior to column loading.
SART Copper Recovery Plant - Large diameter process piping, field instrumentation and the installation of the diesel fuel tank for the generators have been completed. Cable tray installation is near completion in readiness for field wiring and terminations to commence. Small diameter piping is also underway. Pre-operational testing of the main water tank and SART lime silo has also been completed.

Material agregado a los Patios de Lixiviaci�n - Continuaba la construcci�n del nuevo Patio de Lixiviaci�n que ahora almacena unas 103,000 toneladas de mineral de las cuales 30,000 toneladas fueron producto del �ltimo disparo en el Tajo Abierto, abandonado en el a�o 2000, 10,000 toneladas fueron extra�das del prospecto El Pozo, descubierto �ltimamente al sureste del Tajo, mientras el resto proven�an del Patio antiguo que se est� procesando.
La construcci�n del Patio nuevo sigue siendo orientada hacia el desarrollo r�pido de una �rea superficial tan amplia que posible. En la actualidad, su dimensi�n superior aproxima 200 m de largo por 32 m de ancho y casi se ha completado la trituraci�n de un paso transversal completo por el Patio anterior (que no fue triturado).
�ltimamente, la empresa ha reemplazado el cargador frontal a ruedas Cat modelo 980 G por otro del modelo 988 B que cuenta con una cuchara m�s grande, lo que ha permitido acelerar el ritmo de alimentaci�n a la quebradora en un 34%. Se espera la llegada de un tractor Cat D9R esta semana con lo cual aumentar� la eficiencia del movimiento de mineral a la quebradora y la abertura de �reas lixiviables.
Operaciones de Trituraci�n - La quebradora de impacto Nordberg NW 1415 funcionaba normalmente durante el per�odo que se examine con un incremento de su producto debido a la introducci�n del equipo mayor mencionado arriba. Se espera la llegada hoy del representante de la empresa fabricante con el fin de hacer m�s ajustes a la unidad y su equipo asociado, bandas transportadoras, etc. para incrementar a�n m�s su producci�n..
Acceso a m�s material econ�mico - Se ha recibido los resultados de los ensayes de las muestras de los trabajos m�s recientes en el prospecto El Pozo. Un an�lisis geol�gico indica la existencia de unos 4,000 toneladas m�s que podr�an ser arrancadas y depositadas en el Patio nuevo. Mientras se esperaba los resultados de los ensayes de El Pozo, se tom� muestras de las trincheras del prospecto El Cobre, las cuales, al ser ensayadas, dieron una estimaci�n de 9,000 toneladas de mineral rentable. Hay m�s resultados todav�a pendientes de El Cobre. El prospecto El Este sigue como una prioridad futura.
Lixiviaci�n - Aproximadamente 90% del Patio nuevo est� actualmente siendo lixiviado. La soluci�n pre�ada se acumula en la Pileta de Soluci�n Rica, y se lo transfiere a la Pileta de Soluci�n Pobre para ser bombeada de vuelta al Patio nuevo a una concentraci�n de cianuro de sodio de 500 ppm y un ritmo de flujo de 200 USGPM (cifra que va en aumento). Se est� manteniendo la pileta de emergencia a un nivel bajo, tanto para limpiarlo como para protegerlo contra cualquier lluvia repentina y/o fuerte. Han ocurrido unas tormentas �ltimamente. Luego de haber recibido las l�mparas para cobre y plata, el Laboratorio Anal�tico queda efectivamente en condiciones operativas para realizar an�lisis mediante absorpci�n at�mica (AA). Se espera la llegada de algunos �ltimos reactivos esta semana. Las fundiciones para ensayes a fuego est�n todav�a pendientes. Carbono fresco est� siendo procesado mediante rozadura para quitar la fracci�n fina, antes de cargarlo a las columnas.
Planta SART de Recuperaci�n de Cobre - Se ha terminado la tuber�a de proceso de mayor di�metro, la instrumentaci�n en el campo y la instalaci�n del tanque de diesel para las generadoras. Las bandejas para cableado est�n casi terminadas, listas para el comienzo del alambrado y las terminaciones en el campo. Instalaci�n de tuber�a de menor di�metro est� tambi�n avanzando. Adem�s se ha concluido las pruebas previas a la operaci�n del tanque principal de agua y el silo de cal de la planta SARTque ver con tuber�a de gran di�metro, bandejas de cableado y la instalaci�n de un tanque de combustible para las generadoras.
