HIGH-GRADE GOLD MINERALIZATION CONFIRMED AT NORTH ABITIBI PROJECT
Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V: TOE) (?Tri Origin? or the ?Company?) is pleased to announce high-grade assay results have been received from a recent trenching program at its North Abitibi gold property located 150 kilometres north of Kirkland Lake in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Ontario.
The Road Gold Zone was exposed and sampled in one of 6 trenches completed in the area. At this trench, grab samples of quartz-carbonate vein material returned values of up to 43 grams per tonne (?g/t?), 25 g/t and 21 g/t of gold. In total, 14 samples were taken in the Road Gold Zone trench with 5 samples returning values greater than 1 g/t. The remainder were of volcanic rock between the veins and contained low but anomalous values in gold ranging up to 271 parts per billion. In addition, 4 of these samples returned values of greater than 10 g/t of silver and are being re-assayed to confirm their actual silver content. The Road Zone trench is 15 metres in a north-south direction and 20 metres east-west. Veins observed in this trench ranged from a few centimetres to 30 centimetres thick and were from 2 to 5 metres apart. Their lengths could not be determined as they extended under overburden cover at the edges of the trench. The thickness of the zone has not yet been determined due to thick overburden at the north and south ends of the trench. The zone comprises parallel, west-striking veins hosted by west-striking, quartz/iron-carbonate/pyrite/magnetite and hematite altered felsic volcanic rock.
Trenching was successful in exposing the Road Gold Zone at surface however weather conditions did not permit a thorough job of clearing and exposing continuous expanses of the zone. Grab samples were only able to be taken where exposure permitted. Follow-up work during the coming season will involve more detailed and systematic sampling of this gold zone after the exposure has been extended and cleaned.
The Road Zone was discovered in the 1980?s and has also been intersected in previous drilling by Tri Origin returning values of up to 17.8 grams per tonne of gold across 1.6 metres at a depth of 212 metres down hole. The Road Zone has been traced through drilling for approximately 300 metres along strike. This recent program of trenching has aided in proving the continuity and extension to surface of the zone. Additional work is warranted and Tri Origin intends to continue trenching, geological and geophysical surveying and Diamond drilling on the property during the coming field season.
The North Abitibi Project is comprised of 16 claims covering an area of 28 square kilometres. It is within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, one of the world?s most prolific metal-producing regions and approximately 40 kilometres west of the Casa Berardi gold mine in Quebec. The North Abitibi property is located within the same geological terrain as a number of past and currently producing gold and base metal districts and mines including Matagami, Joutel, Selbaie and the Detour Lake Mine. Previous drilling at North Abitibi in the 1980?s and 1990?s, conducted in part by the Company, identified a number of gold occurrences at that time although geological understanding of their extent was limited. Tri Origin believes that the property exhibits a number of promising geological features which may be associated with as yet undiscovered gold orebodies.
All grab samples were taken from bedrock and ranged between 1 kilogram and 2 kilograms in weight. Assaying was done at SGS Laboratories on 15 gram sample splits by the fire assay and atomic absorption finish method. Samples that returned gold values in excess of 10 g/t were re-assayed by fire assay using a gravimetric finish.
